When I was growing up one of my closest friends was one of my classmates named Paul. I grew up in Madison, Wisconsin where for the first three years of school kids are bused form the south ide to the west side for school then vise versa for the second three years. There is not a huge income gap between these two parts of town, but the west side is wealthier than the south. I grew up on the west side both of my parents are college educated and it is easy to say I have never struggled in my life. Paul was from the south side, although his parent worked just as hard as mine they did not have the same finical security my family did. I remember even where I was young noticing how I had things that were nicer than Paul, my house was bigger; my family car was newer, etc.… Even as a young child I could tell there was somthing different between us, but is there really were are both white kids form the same town, we went to the same schools, received the same education, played on the same sports teams. The only difference between us in my parents made more money than his. But even at a young age, I could sense the difference that we put into class in our friendship. I knew nothing about wealth or economic status but I understood that there was a difference between Paul and I.
