Almost every
carbonated drink is advertised as "refreshing" . This could be a brand of beer, soft drink,
sparkling water ect. Whenever there is a
commercial for one of these drinks it almost always has someone in a place
where it is very hot out, or even a place where it is too hot for a normal
human to survive, except humans drinking that particular drink. The advertisement is always trying to signify
that this specific drink is so refreshing that it will cool you off on a hot
summer day, or in some cases get any bad taste out of your mouth. One of the main signifiers of refreshment is
a person opening the product and hearing the crisp sound of the can opening,
then taking a long drink from the product and proclaiming
"Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!" after being refreshed by the product. One example (my favorite Mountain Dew) of how
a soft drink cools you down is this recent commercial.

Another
example of how extreme soft drink commercials can get is one that was banned
from Germany where it was supposed to air.
There is nothing explicit about this link, however it does very heavily
imply a sexual act which is why it was banned.
I find it hilarious, but some people might not want to watch it.

The position
of these commercials try to impose on the viewers is always about how these
drinks will cool you off, hydrate you ( which they normally do the opposite)
and taste excellent all at the same time.
