In the forth paragraph entitled Interpreting Moral Law, Paul IV explains how through their teaching The Church has always be able to express a more “…illumined and enriched…” understanding of natural and moral laws. In this paragraph The Pope is arguing that though out history the teaching of the Church have been congruent with the natural and moral laws that all people adhere to, thus in their teaching The Church has expressed ideas that are unbiased and goo for all people. By arguing that The Church expresses “…not only…the law of the Gospel but also of the natural law” The Pope suggests that the concepts found in scripture are natural human nature that would still exist with out the Church. The main goal of this paragraph is to strengthen the idea of natural law and unchanging human beings, and try to eliminate that idea that the teachings of The Church are biased.
This flawed concept of natural law, and absolute right and wrong, thus the Church not having a bias can be seen though the augments used by The Minnesota Concerned Citizens for Life (MCCL). On their webpage this anti pro-choice group expresses how abortions are wrong and under no circumstances acceptable. This group uses the idea of a natural law, one that is simply right or wrong, in their view of abortion. The MCCL uses ideas to express how and why they fee this way, however they do little to express their motivations for this view. Similar to The Pope, The MCCL relies heavily on the idea of human nature and what we should all believe to help strengthen their argument.
