Contraceptives were created for recreational sex and love-making without trying to get pregnant. With a variety of methods for contraception, couples may and can use more than one to prevent unwanted pregnancies. However, all methods come with pros and cons. No method of contraception protects against sexually transmitted diseases/infections except for abstinence. I believe that people around the world should have to right to engage in sexual activities without having to worry about becoming pregnant.
Catholics, on the other hand, don't believe in artificial contraceptives and only allow natural contraception. They have developed a method of natural contraception called Natural Family Planning (NFP). One part to NFP is to only engage in sex during a woman's infertile part of her menstrual cycle. That way, it lowers the risk of pregnancy while still not using artificial contraception. For some, it may be really hard to believe that Catholics are so into their religion to follow God's will of procreating so seriously, but people can believe in whatever they want and choose to believe in and we have no business in criticizing their beliefs and ways of life.
I almost did this topic as well because I feel like there are two important parts to this, the catholic part that you explained as well as the scientific part. When a woman is on the pill her hormones are messed with leading her to fall for a guy that if she was not on the pill she would not have been attracted to him. Therefore if the two get married and then she is no longer on the pill it could lead to divorce because they find they are not entirely compatible to reproduce. I think it's something to think about when using contraception. There are two parts to contraception and yet people always focus on the religious aspect when even to a scientist it may not be the best option for your body.
